First Experiment on Pastlife Regression
One forenoon I was sitting in the library of our Institute. Dr. Sunil Srivastava, Senior Psychiatrist, handed over a book to the library. I saw the book. The title was "Only Live is Real". It aroused my intrinsic curiosity. It was 30th January 2002. I started reading the book and was completely engrossed. I finished reading the entire volume in 48 hours. I did not have much background of pastlife regression.
I have already read some work of Dr. Satwant Pasricha on reincarnation. I was a little inclined to believe in reincarnation. I was completely unaware of the pastlife regression as detailed in the book. The book influenced me to a great extent.
I wished to try the pastlife regression on my patients. I contacted Dr. Sunil and conveyed my deep appreciation for the book and expressed my intention of conducting the experiment. He told me that there are three more books of the same author. He has already read all those books and conducted the experiments. But the experiments did not succeed. I pleaded that even if it has been unsuccessful, let us try once again. Then, he told me that he will invite one of his patient on next Friday and we shall try. I kept on waiting, the patient did not appear. The thought of conducting the experiment continued to haunt me through out.
As the divine wish programmed it, in March 2002 one of my student "K" requested me to teach him hypnosis. I enquired who shall be the volunteer. He immediately told me that he himself shall be the subject for hypnosis. I was thrilled instantly. I scheduled an appointment with him next week. I informed Dr. Ajai Kumar Srivastava, Psychiatric Social Scientist, about the experiment and requested him to be present during the experiment. Sri 'K' presented as per schedule. Dr. Ajai and myself were sitting in my clinical room. I opened the discussion and briefly explained him the concept of pastlife regression as given in the book. I persuaded him that hypnosis is a part of the regression process. If you consent to regression session, may be that you will also be able to learn the procedure besides hypnosis. He consented to the experiment.
I induced hypnosis in sitting position through arm levitation technique. Then, I gave step by step instructions for staircase, room, light and all. After a few minutes, I enquired about the occurrence of regression. I was a bit nervous. This was my first attempt of life regression.
I had a background of age regression. In fact. I acquired the skill of hypnotic induction during my specialization in Clinical Psychology at Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi in 1989. Since then, I had conducted demonstrations of hypnotic induction in small groups and classes. My use of hypnosis was restricted to such demos only. In demos I used to induced hypnotic phenomena through arm levitation and conduct a test through right arm levitation and then terminate the hypnosis. I was not doing any kind of hypnotherapy. Honestly speaking, I had terror of conducting hypno-analysis or any kind of psychotherapy under hypnosis. Till my first experiment, I only once, talked to my subjects during trance.
Knowing my background of hypnotic demonstrations, Dr. H.M.Singh, Head, Department of Psychology, RBS College, Agra invited me for a demo in a class of PG students of psychology. Initially, I accepted the offer. Later on I did not respond because he wanted me to show an age regression. Since I never induced any regression and because of fears, I just avoided the offer. But he approached me again for a demo. I thought my reputation may be affected if I keep on refusing the offer. So I had to confirm and gave a definite date. Then, I went to the library and searched books on hypnosis. I picked up a book "Clinical Hypnotherapy". I was impressed with the book and read it thoroughly. The book eradicated many op my fears and misconceptions about hypnosis. Particularly, I was assured with the technique of 'ideo-motor questioning'. With this technique in my 'tool box' I became quite confident. I went for demo at a scheduled time. After giving a brief background of hypnosis, I invited a volunteer for demo. Fortunately, the volunteer was an excellent subject. He quickly went into deep trance. Then, I demonstrated the tests of hypnosis. I asked an ideo-motor question from him if his mind is prepared for age regression. He raised the target finger for 'Yes'. I was encouraged. I enquired his current age he told 21 years. I asked him that an event of any period between the ages of 10-15 years would strike his mind, he shall report it. He reported some event. Then I took him to a period of 5-10 years and then 3-5 years. It was all successful. Then I took him to the current age in the same blocks. I gave him a posthypnotic suggestion that upon awakening I shall ask him 'time' instead of telling me the time, he shall go to the blackboard write his name and address; and sit back. He was also instructed not to remember that I instructed him to do so. I terminated the hypnosis. I asked him to report to the class what happened, how and what he experienced. After, that I enquired time from him. For a moment he was perplexed and hurriedly stood up and complied to the posthypnotic suggestion. I enquired from him what he did, I enquired the time. He replied that he did not have wrist watch to tell the time. This demo reduced many of my fears and misconceptions even further. I was more confident and a bit repented why for so many years I harbored these misconceptions. I could have expanded my skills of hypnotherapy to a large extent.
Even against this background, I was nervous and afraid. I cautiously asked 'K' an ideo-motor question if any of the previous life has been accessed. He did not respond. I waited for a while. Then again enquired twice through ideo-motor questions. He did not respond. I thought, probably, Dr. Sunil was right that there is nothing like that. The experiment will not be successful. So, I terminated the trance.
In waking state, I told him to narrate everything whatever was experienced during the trance. He reported that he was seeing some 'ashram', 'Guruji'. children and a snake. No regression has occurred. I asked why he did not report these events while in the trance. He told that he did not consider these to be regression. I asserted that I could have led you from this point onward had you reported all these to me. Any way, we shall schedule another session and repeat the procedure. We scheduled another appointment next week on a Sunday so that I can have sufficient time to wait and proceed.
I again requested Dr. Ajai and also to Dr. Sandhyrani Mohanty to be present during the experiment. This time, I invited him to my residence in morning at about 10 a.m. He presented himself at the scheduled time. This time, I obtained his consent to do in supine position on a 'Deewan'. He agreed and we, three were present. I made arrangements in the room. The telephones were disconnected, door bell was switched off. I put a lock outside so that no one can disturb us. I switched off all the lights except one night bulb. I induced trance through arm levitation. He quickly entered a deep trance. I led him to visualize staircase, room and light. this time I had decided to abandon ideo-motor questioning as I thought it was misleading. I gave him straight instruction to narrate whatever pops up in his mind. After a few moments he started narrating in a whispering voice:
There is an 'ashram'. Some children are studying. There is one 'Guruji' with white dress and beard. An old person. He is asking me some questions. I am about 6 years old. My name is 'Karmendra'. the name of 'Guruji' is Brahamnanda. I am replying to the questions. He asked me who is more worthy, a teacher, God, Mother. I replied It is Teacher because he does not expect anything in return. What are the ways to lead to 'Braham'? I answered various yoga. Who is best teacher at this time? I replied that I do not like Dronacharya because he asked the thumb. 'Guruji' told that he did not want to hear any criticism. Tell him the teacher he likes. I replied Krishna. He is satisfied with my answers and complementing me that I have learned more than what is expected at my age. I was stunned with this narration. I enquired what is the period of these events. He told me that it is 'Dwapara' in its last stage. 'Mahabharata' has already occurred. Then I enquired about the geography of this 'ashram'. He reported that The ashram is surrounded by hills. there is one hut near the ashram. There is no village nearby. There is a waterfall near the ashram. He began narrating further. He told that he was going to bring water from the nearby waterfall. While in the way back a snake bite at the leg of the child.
I was sitting in a position that I could have all the attention focused at his face. Dr. Sandhya was sitting towards his head so his complete body was in her view. When he told me that the child is bitten by snake, I saw tears in his eyes. At the same time, Dr. Sandhya attracted my attention towards his legs. We saw his right leg trembling vigorously. I waited for some time so that this experience is relieved. He became quiet after a few moments. I asked what happened. "The child has died", he replied. Move ahead with time. See what happens. "Guruji" came to that place. He is now talking with "what came out of the body of the child". He is telling that I can make you alive, but I shall not go against the destiny. You shall have to take more births.
I terminated the regression and trance. Upon awakening, he held his right foot in his hands. He started searching something around the bed near the foot. I asked what has happened. He told me that something has pierced in his foot. He is searching what was that. We continued to explore him in detail about various aspects of his experiences. We also enquired if he had any trouble on his right foot. He reported that at times he feels pain on that site. It was not so serious to attract medical attention. It subsides by its own. We continued to follow it up till now. The pain sensation has not occurred even once.

Sample Case Studies:
.......................................................................................................................................
Stabbing:
Krishna (name changed) wanted to learn the reasons for his pain in the neck and abdomen along with his very aggressive nature. You know, what had happened to him in his previous life. He was stabbed by his two friends over money matters in the neck and abdomen which resulted in end of his previous life. In the process of leaving the body he had resolved not to trust and take revenge. How he benefited from this experience of pastlife regression? He got insight into his persistent pains and the reasons for his aggressive nature. The in-depth insight resulted in termination of his pains and reduction in his aggressive disposition.
Vertigo:
Thomas (name changed) suffered from vertigo and headache since childhood. He came to know about pastlife regression and accessed into the realm of previous lives. There was a clear cut link to the experiences of previous lives that produced these symptoms in him. He had received a lethal blow on his head in a battle in previous live. The benefits were instant and miraculous. His persistent and recurring headache and vertigo disappeared.
Apprehensions:
Yusuf (name changed) had allergic rhynitis since early life. He used to take heavy antibiotics every fortnight to overcome the allergy. He immediately consented for a session of pastlife regression. The emerged links of past life were readily apparent and logical. He had been imprisoned in one of his ancient life. He had died of severe respiratory infection in the jail. He showed exemplary improvements in his allergy. Two years have elapsed since the session. He never go affected by the allergy.
Pain on the forearm:
Shreshta (name changed) complained of recurrent pain in her forearm since early life. In the session of pastlife regression, she accessed a previous life in which she was a king who had succumbed to death by falling into a well in which sword pierced the forearm. The insight and release of the pent up feelings led to dramatic effects. She no more have pain in her forearm.
