Integrated Cognitive Therapy & Hypnosis:

Your problem may best respond to an integrated approach consisting of hypnotherapy, behaviour therapy and cognitive therapy. This may be implemented by incorporating following elements:

  • Training in self-hypnosis
  • Therapist guided hypnosis
  • Cognitive restructuring through two column technique
  • Desensitization during hypnotic trance
  • Progressive Relaxation
  • Breathing Exercises

Training in Self-hypnosis:

We shall provide you a training in self-hypnosis in a most easy and confortable manner. This training would aim at enhancing your built in suggestibility potentials for accepting helpful and healing suggestions by deeper layers of your mind. You may take a few days to become proficient in these exercises. Your body would begin to respond to the commands. Self-hypnosis relies on mind-body connection. Your mind can influence your body and vice versa. When you feed a command to your mind; and your body responds to the command; then it is a sign that you are going in a right direction. You can further train your mind to install and execure healing affirmations and suggestions so that you can attain your desired goals. You can check your suggestion potentials by giving following commands to your mind and see how your body responds. You should remember that by repeated practice, your impressions and response to suggestions will increase.

  • Sit comfortably, close your eyes and visualize any place in your mind's eyes where you can feel comfortable and at ease, this could be a park, a spiritual place or any place you visited in the past.
  • Sit comfortably, stretch your left arm parallel to the ground, palm facing up and visualize a heavy dictionay on your palm and feel the weight and your arm moving down towards your thighs, spend about 1-2 minutes
  • Close your eyes, visualize your laptop or desktop, open the browser, type following in the search box: relaxed and comfortable, hit enter
  • If you have done above exercises, then notice what happened in your body and mind.
  • For exercise-1, notice or record what did you visualize. People generally report, park, trees, grass, flowers, children playing and the like. Could you have similar experience.
  • For exercise-2, notice or record if you felt heaviness in your palm; whether your arm moved down because of the weight. If yes, then your body do respond to the suggestions.
  • For exercise-3, could you visualize your desktop or laptop, could you browse. If yes, then your body and mind are accepting the suggestions and you can use this capacity of yours for healing.

What if you failed to have any experience in response to above exercises? We have following additional sample exercises for you. Now try with these exercises, what happens to you? Remember, a doctor has wide range of medicines. If one does not work, he can prescribe other medicines too or add something potent to the existing prescription. We can always innovate and come up with more and mroe techniques and procedures.

  • Can you close your eyes and hear the sounds around you?
  • Can you remember any experience of your childhood?
  • Can you remember any time of you were with your friends and enjoying yourself in a different city?
  • Can you remember your most favorite food?
  • Can you remember eating chocolates?
  • Can you remember when your teacher praised you in a class?
  • Can you recall any flower and how it smells?
  • Can you remember walking at any place and notice what is there around you?
  • Can you remember the face of your enemy?
  • Can you remember your most pleasant moment of your life and what was there around you?

If you could perform any of the above tasks even if partially, then you do have suggestibility potentials and you can build upon it. It is rare that a person fails to perform any of the above tasks. If you are in this rare group; then we would examine your concepts and expectations from self-hypnosis and perform more comprehensive face to face test of suggestibility.

For actual training in self-hypnosis; we may initially hypnotize you, give you post-hypnotic suggestions for self-hypnosis, train you on the procedue or give you a recorded MP3 for self-hypnosis. You would need to practice it for a few weeks and you are likely to become proficient with such practice. Your motivation and persistence would be the key factors in integration of self-hypnosis in your functioning. Additionally, you should remember that there is a difference in self-hypnosis and self-hypnotherapy. Self-hypnotherapy is self-hypnosis plus therapy. Self-hypnosis is akin to getting into sleep and coming out of it. It by itself does not have healing potentials. When suggestions or regression models are added to self-hypnosis; it becomes self-hypnotherapy. We shall add these to heal your conditions.
